gang of alleged fraudsters involved in a number of cases has been arrested by the Anti-Crime Department of the Royal Oman Police (ROP).Members of the group, a police statement said, used to lease vehicles owned by individuals at tempting rates, claiming that they were leasing them for big companies and smuggled a total of 300 vehicles out of the country.Police acted after it received complaints from a number of citizens and the suspects were arrested after detailed investigations. It was found that they were working for swindling companies through a number of agents in different parts of the country.The accused used to execute rent contracts for vehicle owners promising that they would lease the vehicle for big companies against RO3,500-RO5,000 per contract. They would lease the vehicle for RO380 to RO1,000 per month for seven years, depending on the type of vehicle.Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence said the Sultan's Armed Forces has detailed 207 illegal immigrants in different parts of the country. The infiltrators, of different nationalities, were arrested in cooperation with ROP, the ministry added.
