Sergeant Patrick Williams caught red-handed taking bribes from a motorist
A Traffic cop, caught red-handed taking bribes from a motorist, is on the run even as his colleagues issue a call for him to turn himself in.The policeman managed to elude members of the Anti-Corruption Branch during a sting operation in downtown Kingston on February 18th.Sergeant Patrick Williams, who is attached to the Traffic Department of the Elletson Road Police, reportedly seized a motorcar and allegedly offered to release the vehicle if the owner paid him $20,000.
The owner reported the matter to the Anti-Corruption Branch and a sting operation was set up.The policeman collected the money and was accosted by uniformed members of the Anti-Corruption Branch in the vicinity of the Central Police Station.
He reportedly pulled his firearm on his colleagues and threatened to shoot them and the motorist.He then fled the scene and was chased down Georges Lane where he abandoned his gun and escaped his colleagues. Head of the Police Anti Corruption Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Justine Felice issued a plea for the policeman to give himself up.He said this is the latest in a string of successes in catching corrupt cops
