Gerardo Rosario, 43, of New Bedford, is charged with 16 counts of identity fraud, five counts of fraudulent use of credit cards, seven counts of falsification of operator’s license, and one count each of larceny more than $250 and larceny less than $250.
Gerardo’s nephew, Adrian Rosario, 21, of Fall River, is charged with 16 counts of conspiracy to commit identity fraud and one count of larceny less than $250.In March 2008, the Attorney General’s Office began investigating after some initial work by the Acushnet Police Department. Investigators found that in February 2007, while working at a local car dealership in Somerset, Adrian Rosario allegedly stole motor vehicle sale contracts from the dealership and gave those contracts to his uncle, Gerardo Rosario, according to a press release from the Attorney General's Office.Authorities allege that between March 2007 through June 2007, Gerardo Rosario used the personal information from 16 of these contracts to created fake Massachusetts driver’s licenses, which he then allegedly used to open various store credit card accounts. Authorities believe that Gerardo allegedly used these credit cards to purchase various electronics and other merchandise which he would then sell for personal profit, the press release states. Both men are expected to be arraigned in superior court at a later date.
