Kuwaiti security authorities, in cooperation with their counterparts in Oman, have arrested a three-member gang possessing 10 kilograms of heroine, worth KD 500,000.
Interior Ministry spokesman Colonel Mohammad Al-Saber told KUNA that Kuwait’s Drug Combat Department and the Coast Guard, in cooperation with authorities in Oman, arrested three Iranians with 10 kilograms of heroine in their possession aboard a boat, off the Omani coasts.
He explained that Interior Minister Sheikh Jaber Khalid Al-Sabah, upon receiving information about this gang, ordered an arrest to be made as quickly as possible to protect the country and citizens from this dangerous phenomenon.
The spokesman explained that Interior Undersecretary Lieutenant General Ahmad Al-Rujaib followed all procedures taken, adding that Interior Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Affairs Major General Ghazi Al-Omar ordered the formation of a team comprising drug combat personnel and Coast Guard.
This team headed to Oman for coordination with relevant authorities there, and information was exchanged, followed by further investigation, which led to the arrest of the three-member gang.
Al-Saber lauded the level of security cooperation between Kuwait and Oman, which he said was in implementation of joint agreements they had.
“This is a heavy blow to drug dealers and anyone who seeks to harm the country,” he said.
