10 years' jail for heroin dealer

A Bahraini has been jailed for 10 years for dealing in heroin by the High Criminal Court.The 25-year-old was also fined BD5,000 after admitting illegally obtaining, possessing and selling the drug.
A 30-year-old Moroccan woman and a second jobless Bahraini, 29, were each jailed for a year and fined BD500, after admitting obtaining, possessing and using the drug.The court ordered the woman be deported after serving her sentence. Only the 25-year-old defendant appeared in the latest court hearing.They were arrested in July last year, after police raided the 29-year-old's home and found heroin, after a tip-off that he was using the drug.The defendant admitted to the police that he used drugs and told them that he got his supplies from the 25-year-old.He agreed to help catch the other man by contacting him to buy more, but the other man escaped as police swooped after the exchange took place.He fled to the woman's home, where police arrested both of them after the first man led them there.
