Company boss sues over gambling and prostitute claims
Company boss sues over gambling and prostitute claims: "FORMER company boss is suing another businessman who claimed he had a 'a penchant for prostitutes and lap-dancing clubs'.
Stefan Hopewell, of Bilsthorpe, says he was also accused of 'misappropriating money', having a gambling addiction and once stealing more than £600 from his uncle to spend on fruit machines.
The 32-year-old helped set up MOTMax Ltd in 2007 and it quickly expanded across six sites in Carlton, Boughton, Newark, Mansfield, Grantham and Lincoln.
Mr Hopewell says he owned a 20% shareholding and his salary as managing director had gradually increased to £60,000 a year. But he was dismissed from his role on May 11 last year.
According to a High Court writ he has issued, the company was then taken into voluntary liquidation on August 27 by the company's majority shareholder and chairman Tim Fretwell."
